For years being a board member in Dayton school, Adil Baguirov relieved his position for new opportunities. During his tenure, he has been involved to a number of things in further improving the educational system.

Education is not a finite process and it does not start at morning bell then stops at dismissal particularly it does not start on the first day of your kindergarten and ends on your graduation day on college and years ahead, Adil Baguirov Dayton has seen this already.

Adil Baguirov is saddened with the present education system we have now which different parts of the globe follows as well is focused on achieving goals, passing tests and hitting the correct answers. There are numerous foundational blocks being missed which is critical in developing lifelong learning. And no, this isn’t a new idea introduced in the public instead, it is long overdue and many studies can back this up.

Number 1. Learning should be relevant – if we get to learn skills because it’s needed to do something that matters, then it is easier for us to remember it. So to give you an example, students who study how to get the measurements of the area of the land and calculate it to where they will grow a garden need a formula to do so. At one point, they’ll find a way to figure out how which will broaden their knowledge and learning.

Number 2. Extrinsic rewards – Adil Baguirov believed that these extrinsic rewards being offered for activities people enjoy has a tendency to decrease their level of motivation. To make it simpler, if you have a kid who enjoys reading and has become a habit for him/her to read 30 minutes a day, giving them rewards will cause it to have less pleasure from reading.

Adil Baguirov Dayton, rewards therefore has to be reserved only when it’s needed as a way to motivate people in doing things that they do not really enjoy. Aside from that, learning associated with grades becomes learning only for grades and not for added knowledge. Fact is, there are thousands upon thousands of newly graduated students even those with honors who are having a hard time recalling the content of what they learnt.

Number 3. Group study – collaborative learning environments actually encourages students to listen to others, think for themselves and explain what they think. As soon as they leave school, it’ll be more important for students to collaborate with each other. Yet, our current education system is insisting to test them one by one and encourages to compete than to collaborate, which is what Adil Baguirov Dayton try to rule out.
